Ruffo Castle, Scilla - Calabria


Ruffo Castle is a fortress built around 400 BC located in the town of Scilla in Calabria. The Castle, situated on a headland overlooking the Strait of Messina, was used to defend the region against pirate attacks. The site houses a lighthouse built in 1913 by the Italian Navy.At various times this spot has been a fortress, a home, a monastery and a youth hostel.
