The Royal Bedroom in Cotroceni National Museum, Bucharest

In 1893, the Cotroceni Palace was founded by Serban Cantacuzino. This residence was home to King Carol I, who made important changes in its architecture. In the late 19th century, the Crown, Ferdinand ordered the partial demolition of the palace, which would be later reconstructed by French architect Paul Gottereau, who gives a purely neoclassical touch. In 1977, Nicolae Ceausescu’s palace transformed into a guesthouse, and also ordered to build an additional wing. Currently, the Cotroceni National Museum is operational inside the Palace, which was opened in 1991 and includes the Cotroceni Royal Palace and the Cotroceni Monastery.
