Constantin Brâncoveanu Monastery, Sâmbăta de Sus

During Constantin Brâncoveanu's rule, an architectural style known as the "Brâncovenesc style" originated in Wallachia, as a synthesis of Renaissance and Byzantine architecture. An example of the kind is the orthodox monastery situated in Sâmbăta de Sus, a commune in Braşov County. It was built between 1696-1698 and was destroyed in 1785. The restoration of the church began in 1926 and was finally finished after the war in 1946.
