Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro

Ipanema is a neighborhood located in the southern region of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The beach at Ipanema became widely known by the song "The Girl from Ipanema", written by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes. The word "Ipanema" comes from the Tupi language and means "stinky lake", from upaba ("lake") and nem ("stinky").

Blumenau is a city in Vale do Itajaí, state of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil. It was founded on September 2, 1850 by Dr. Hermann Bruno Otto Blumenau along with 17 German immigrants.
