Buckingham Palace, Westminster, London


Buckingham Palace is the official London residence and principal workplace of the British monarch. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is a setting for state occasions and royal hospitality. It has been a focus for the British people at times of national rejoicing.
Originally known as Buckingham House, the building which forms the core of today's palace was a large townhouse built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1705 on a site which had been in private ownership for at least 150 years. It was subsequently acquired by George III in 176 as a private residence for Queen Charlotte, and known as "The Queen's House".

Big Ben, London


Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London and often extended to refer to the clock and the clock tower. The tower is now officially called the Elizabeth Tower, after being renamed to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II. The tower holds the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world and is the third-tallest free-standing clock tower. The tower was completed in 1858 and had its 150th anniversary on 31 May 2009. The tower has become one of the most prominent symbols of the United Kingdom and is often in the establishing shot of films set in London.

The Shard, London


The Shard, also referred to as the Shard of Glass and Shard London Bridge, is a 95-storey skyscraper in London. Its construction began in March 2009; it was topped out on 30 March 2012 and inaugurated on 5 July 2012. It opened to the public on 1st of February 2013. Standing 309.6 meters high, the Shard is the tallest building in the European Union, and the second-tallest in Europe, after the Mercury City Tower in Moscow.

The Parliament of the United Kingdom, London



The Parliament of England was the legislature of the Kingdom of England. In 1066, William of Normandy introduced a feudal system, by which he sought the advice of a council of tenants-in-chief and ecclesiastics before making laws. In 1215, the tenants-in-chief secured Magna Carta from King John, which established that the king may not levy or collect any taxes (except the feudal taxes to which they were hitherto accustomed), save with the consent of his royal council, which gradually developed into a parliament. It is known today as the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

Stratford-upon-Avon


Stratford-upon-Avon is a market town and civil parish in south Warwickshire, England. The town is a popular tourist destination owing to its status as birthplace of the playwright and poet William Shakespeare, receiving about three million visitors a year from all over the world. The Royal Shakespeare Company resides in Stratford's Royal Shakespeare Theatre, one of Britain's most important cultural venues. The main sites are: Anne Hathaway cottage - the wife of William Shakespeare, The Elizabethan Knott Garden, The Gild Chapel, The Gower Memorial to William Shakespeare.

Yorkshire is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Within the borders of the historic county of Yorkshire are areas which are widely considered to be among the greenest in England, due to the vast stretches of unspoiled countryside.

Manchester


Is a city and metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester, England. The city is notable for its culture, music scene, scientific and engineering output, media links and sporting connections. The name Manchester originates from the Ancient Roman name Mamucium, the name of the Roman fort and settlement.

Leeds


Is a city and metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, England. Leeds is the cultural, financial and commercial heart of the West Yorkshire Urban Area. Leeds can trace its recorded history to the 5th century when the Kingdom of Elmet was covered by the forest of "Loidis", the origin of the name Leeds.

The Old Town, Edinburgh


The Old Town of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is the oldest part of the city. Together with the 18th-century New Town, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has preserved its medieval plan and many Reformation-era buildings.

Perth


Is a town and former city and royal burgh in central Scotland. Located on the banks of the River Tay, it is the administrative centre of Perth and Kinross council area and the historic county town of Perthshire. The name Perth comes a Pictish word for wood or copse. There has been a settlement at Perth since prehistoric times, on a natural mound raised slightly above the flood plain of the Tay, where the river could be crossed at low tide. The area surrounding the modern town is known to have been occupied by Mesolithic hunter-gatherers since their arrival more than 8000 years ago.

The Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe


Bagpipes are a class of musical instrument, aerophones, using enclosed reeds fed from a constant reservoir of air in the form of a bag. Though the Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe and Irish uilleann pipes have the greatest international visibility, bagpipes have been played for centuries throughout large parts of Europe, the Caucasus, around the Persian Gulf and in Northern Africa. During the expansion of the British Empire, the Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe became well-known worldwide. This surge in popularity was boosted by large numbers of pipers trained for military service in World War I and World War II. Bagpipe making was once a craft that produced instruments in many distinctive local traditional styles. Today, the world's biggest producer of the instrument is Pakistan.

Tower Bridge, London


Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, over the Thames River. It is close to the Tower of London, which gave it its name. The bridge was opened on June 30, 1894.
