Smolensk

Smolensk  is a city and the administrative center of Smolensk Oblast, Russia. This walled city was destroyed several times throughout its long history since it was on the invasion routes of both Napoleon and Hitler. Today, Smolensk is noted for electronics, textiles, food processing, and diamond faceting.

Samara

It is the sixth largest city in Russia and it's situated at the confluence of the Volga and Samara Rivers on the east bank of the Volga. The 20th century Russian writer Alexey Tolstoy lived in Samara, and there is a museum dedicated to him. 

The Kunstkamera, St. Petersburg

The Kunstkamera was the first museum in Russia. Established by Peter the Great and completed in 1727, the Kunstkammer Building hosts the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography, with a collection of almost 2,000,000 items. It is located on the Universitetskaya Embankment in Saint Petersburg, facing the Winter Palace.

Smolny Convent, St. Petersburg

Smolny Convent located on the bank of the River Neva in Saint Petersburg and it consists of a cathedral and a complex of buildings surrounding it, originally intended for a convent. This Russian Orthodox convent was built to house Elizabeth, the daughter of Peter the Great. After she was disallowed succession to the throne, she opted to become a nun. However her Imperial predecessor, Ivan VI was overthrown during a coup d'état. Elizabeth then decided against entering monastic life and accepted the offer of the Russian throne and work on the convent continued with her royal patronage.

Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow

The Grand Sports Arena of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex in Moscow, or briefly Luzhniki Stadium, is the biggest sports stadium in Russia. Its total seating capacity is 89,318 seats, all covered. The stadium is a part of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex, previously called the Central Lenin Stadium. The name Luzhniki derives from the flood meadows in the bend of Moskva River where the stadium was built, translating roughly as "The Meadows".

St. Isaac's Cathedral, Sankt Petersburg

Saint Isaac's Cathedral is the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral in the city, dedicated to St. Isaac of Dalmatia.  It was ordered by Tsar Alexander I in order to replace an earlier structure, and was the forth consecutive church standing at that same place. The cathedral took 40 years to construct, under Montferrand's direction, from 1818 to 1858.

Tsvetnoy Boulevard, Tyumen

Tyumen is the largest city and the administrative center of Tyumen Oblast, Russia, located on the Tura River. Tyumen is the oldest (first) Russian settlement in Siberia. Founded in 1586 to support Russia's eastward expansion, the city has remained one of the most important industrial and economic centers east of the Ural Mountains.   

The Dormition Cathedral, Moscow Kremlin

Is a Russian Orthodox church, dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) and situated on the north side of Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin. The church was consecrated in 1479, but it is believed that on the same place there was before a burial site and a wooden church.

Is a city located on the confluence of Amur and Zeya Rivers, right on the Sino-Russian border.

Modern Art Center "The Garrage", Moscow

The Garage, founded by Dasha Zhukova in 2008, is a major non-profit arts project based in Moscow, dedicated to exploring and developing contemporary culture. At the beginning of this year, Garage moved from its original home in the Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage to Gorky Park in Moscow. Garage aims to bring important international modern and contemporary art to Moscow, to raise the profile of Russian contemporary culture internationally and encourage a new generation of Russian artists.
